Year in Review

2014 is coming to an end and it’s been another great year for Honor By August. With the steadfast support of the HBA community the band has made so much progress this year, and we’re looking forward to even more in 2015! But before that, we thought we’d take a moment to recap the highlights of this past year.

We began 2014 wrapping up a six-month tour with Jonny Lang through some of the greatest and most historic venues across the country. We braved the Polar Vortex though a snow-covered south to the vast expanses of the mountain west out to the west coast, from sunny SoCal to our first-ever show in Canada (Vancouver). On our way back across the country we took time to visit radio stations that were playing our singles, “Last Chance” and “Already Yours.” And then there was The Rock Boat

TRBXIV marked the first time Honor By August had played The Boat as a full band, and it was one of the greatest experiences we have ever had. We came away with so many new friends and wonderful memories. One that stands out among them was the huge turnout on the final night for our unofficial acoustic set. Under the stars with the ocean at our backs, it was humbling and amazing to see so many people crowd in and sing our music back to us. Wow.

In March we played the first-ever Off The Record Music Festival in OBX with some of the best musicians we’ve been fortunate to call friends — Tony Lucca, Matt Duke, Todd Carey and so many more. This was a very special gathering that broke down barriers between Artists and Fans, creating a richer experience for all. We can’t wait to do it again in 2015 when the festival moves to Charleston, SC!

In April, Michael visited several colleges with The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America to help lay the foundation for their Raise Your Voice for Care Tour. Then in May the band played our first event for the AFA (“For The Love of…”) in Nashville to a wonderful crowd with great results for all involved.

We capped off the spring by signing with Paradigm, a major booking agency whose world-class roster of artists includes Coldplay, Jason Mraz, and Imagine Dragons.

The band then focused on writing in May and June before kicking off a summer tour in July with our good friends The Gallery. The tour started in San Francisco and we headed south through California again before making our way east. Along the way we played our first-ever show in Arizona and made a few stops in Texas before heading up to Georgia. The tour continued up the east coast and out to the Midwest before finishing down in Nashville. It was amazing to see so many Rock Boaters at every turn! It makes us incredibly thankful to be a part of such a great community.

This fall we played some noteworthy shows and special events, including our first AFA College Tour stop at Frostburg State University. But most of our time was spent working on the new album.

In another first for us, this next album is being produced and recorded entirely by the band itself. It’s a huge responsibility and more than we’ve ever taken on before, but it’s also incredibly exciting and rewarding for us. And it’s shaping up to be our best work yet!

We took a break from writing and recording for a week in November to play some shows in the Northeast and Midwest with our good friend Tony Lucca. While it was nice to be out on the road again we knew we had to keep our focus on the new music. So we hunkered down and began working diligently on more songs for the new record (two of which we’ve finished!)

There are already big plans afoot for 2015, including a Kickstarter Campaign to help us complete the new album and get it into your hands, a return to The Rock Boat and some ambitious tour plans. We can’t wait to see you all out there and genuinely appreciate your strong and continued support.

Much Love,
Honor By August
